Service Dogs and Rescues

Non-Cardigans in the family are the service dogs that assist my daughter, Honour, and the rescues that we seek out.

Service Dogs: Ginny (in heaven waiting for us), Sammy, and Godric.

We are very serious about rescue and we foster and rehome dogs as often as our pocketbook allows (and frequently quite a bit more than that).

We urge anyone thinking about a rescue to visit the Hartford, CT, pound. Hartford is a fast-kill shelter (each dog is held for ten days; on the tenth day it must either be adopted or euthanized). Hartford takes in the strays from the streets of Connecticut’s largest city and places them as quickly as possible. In-state adoptions are $50 and include a spay/neuter voucher and out-of-state adoptions are $5. Yes, five dollars.

Hartford often has small, young dogs, and they are all desperately in need of homes. Please consider this a top-choice shelter if you want to save truly at-risk dogs in the New England area.
